Hello,

I've read that these rainbows come in several different colors. Does anybody know if the males and females have different coloring, like those of the Bosemani Rainbow?

I recently bought two, and the coloring is a bit dull compared to some I've seen in the past. They have the thick, dark blue line running the length of the fish, but the fins do not have the redish color I was hoping for. I'm thinking perhaps they are just young and have not matured?

Anyboby have any ideas?

Thanks.

My thoughts

I used to keep these guys and they turned out to be beautiful fish!! Mine were almost 2" when i first purchased them...and i could already tell the difference between the sexes. They were both the same on the sides but the males fins were trimmed in bright red, especially in the light. If yours are both dull except for the stripe...i would guess females

I thikn it depends on the age too. When I got mine he was SO dull...but with age his red/black really became vibrant.

i had 2(only 1 now) of these fish and i think they are as beautiful as bosemani if not more so when they are colored up. since one of mine died, the other hasnt been as colorful, but it still looks nice. they werent as colorful when i got them as they are now. give them time and they will probably come around once they are comfortable with their surroundings. also, they are more colorful at certain times of the day than they are the rest of the day. here's a good site for rainbow info:
