Trouble with Fluval C2....

I've been having some troubles with my Fluval C2. Like the updated version of the AquaClears. Almost since I've gotten it, I've had minor problems here and there. First, the unit was pretty noisy and I tried fixing it with some plumber's silicone grease on the impeller shaft which has seemed to help some, but not completely. That's not my main problem now though. I can deal with some noise as long as the unit will actually work. The problem I'm having now is that even though my unit is clean, it keeps losing flow. If I turn the flow control all the way up, it will pump fine except that it won't pump any or very little through the little fountain for the trickle bio filter on the ceramic. Then when I turn the flow all the way down, the trickle fountain starts flowing but then the unit starts making sucking noises at the inlet tube like it can't pump enough water to keep the prime. Then whats really funny is that if I really quickly switch the unit off and on it will sometimes start pumping better!? I've read of other people doing this to their filter and I guess it's to reseat the impeller, but come on!!! I shouldn't have to do this this often and with such bad luck with it actually working on a filter I paid almost 30 bucks for! If I could I think I would return this unit, but I'm afraid I'm stuck with it. I e-mailed Fluval and it's close to the 3rd day and they haven't yet e-mailed me back, but I'll give them more time. The thing is that it has a 2 year warranty, but it says they need the entire unit shipped back to them for repair!? What are my fish supposed to do?
:help:

Well, I e-mailed Hagen and they said they thought it may be an impeller problem so they're going to send a replacement. Hopefully that is what it is. If not, maybe I can just keep my cycled filter media and put it in a back up Top Fin 30 filter I have while I send the Fluval off to be repaired. I need my filter now more than even since I've upgraded to a 28 gallon bowfront.
