Please help me find some possible solutions on how to treat this problem:

I have 2 fish that are afflicted with a white skin patch. On the glass cat, it has remained a tiny little patch on dorsal area. The threadfin rainbow, however, has got some serious ulceration + white growth on its tail- both sides, preceding the fin.

I've treated with Melafix with not much success, and then ran a full course of tri-sulpha antibiotic. This helped reverse some of the damage, but it is by no means cured and it seems likely I could lose this fish (the glass cat is holding up ok). What should I do next???

Thank you,
Alicia

I would increase the number of water changes and add around 2tbsp per 10g. Check you water readings, most importantly ammonia and nitrite.

Are these guys new to the tank? How old is the tank itself?

Hi-
thanks for your response. So add 2 tbsp of -?- per 10 gal? It's been up since Feb, but I had to do some replanting around the time I added the threadfins and rounded out my school of cats, about 3 weeks ago.

Thank you again-
Alicia
