Hi I have a small 4 foot 25 gallon tank with a 40 watt bulb over it. Now this is slightly more then 1.5 watts per gallon and I would like to keep some low light plants. Now here is my problem.
I have about 1' of fine sand substrate which I will keep but don't mind to plant 2-3 plants in clay pots and a couple of plants that are going to be attached to driftwood and rocks (like java moss and anubias). Now what substrate should I use in the clay pots? ( I'm on a budget). I heard once that I could use regular top soil covered with gravel. Is this correct and recommended? Any suggestions are welcome.
