Could someone out there help me in finding somewhere where I can buy some fine black gravel? I cannot seem to locate places on the web. I do like the look of the known "black tahitian moon sand", but cannot find any gravel that looks similiar to it. I would rather hbuy gravel instead. I also want to buy a gravel that will not fade on me. I have found on the web, places that sell black glass aquarium gravel, but I heard that was not safe for your fish. I have seen on forums that some people have bought TexBlast and Stanblast gravel, but I can't seem to find it on the web. I have also seen that some people use this black beauty sandblasting gravel. Is this gravel okay to use? If someone knows where I can get some fine black aquarium gravel, please let me know, that includes phone numbers and addresses. PLEASE HELP!!!

My lfs has fine black gravel in some tanks but says the company doesn't make it anymore. I looked around for fine black gravel/sand b4 but couldn't find anything either. The black beauty sandblasting sand was not inert to my recollection so I didn't go with that. I ended up with Seachems Onyx sand (which ends up being fine gravel on top of sand due to settling) but that is definitely grey, not black.
Try searching for black sand or gravel using the search button. I'm sure you'll get a wealth of info.
Good luck!

You may want to look into Eco Complete as an option. It's a little pricey, but 1 bag is supposed to cover 4 times the area of regular gravel. I got my lfs to order it for me so I wouldn't get hit with the shipping. I haven't used it yet, but have not read any negative posts on it. Everyone I've read that used it loved it!

I've never heard this claim, but it's not true. In fact, since Eco-Complete is packaged in water, it covers a little less than you would expect by the weight of the bag -- i.e., a 20-pound bag of Eco-Complete probably only has about 16 or so pounds of actual gravel in it.

Black Beauty is crushed slag used in metals refining and is NOT inert.
