Tube or screw in bulbs?

Hi, I am still confused about something:help:; can you get the same quality of light from tube flourescent bulbs as you can from the screw in compact flourescent bulbs? I need to know if I should go through the trouble of converting my fixtures from tube to screw in. Thanks ~Angel

You can get a good amount of light, but you'll be stuck with 6700K (daylight), which is a bit yellow for some people. Plants do well w/ daylight bulbs. For the money it's a good lighting method.

thing with the cfl bulbs you can get more light over then the reg tube if your talking about t12 or t8.

if your using t5 high output they would be the best. just depends on what your talking about.

i use 2 26w cfl on my 20g high, and the plants are doing well. it all so save me some money

incandesent hood

Could I just replace the hoods I have now with incandescent hoods and then put the cheap compact flourescent lights in there? I saw some last night that said 1500 lumen, would that be good? Thanks for all the help!:headbang2:

I just converted three of my hoods over to cfls. My 44 Pent i use to hoods with a total of 6 13w 6700k daylights. They are very yellow but i like the look. My 20Hi i was able to fit 4 13w cfl's due to the 24" hood. Got the sockets and bulbs from a local hardware store i think i had around 50 bux all together with bulbs, sockets, little bit of wire, wire nuts and screws. I really wanted to find opposing sockets they wouldve worked perfect and i think i couldve fit 4 in the 20" hoods then. heres some pics i took while making em.
