My poor poor goldfish - I paid $.25 cents for him at Walmart about 2 months ago along with 4 others. HE is the remaining fish - the others died in a couple of days. Well over the weekend something happened to him! I came back to work today and his tail and upper fin is GONE!!!!!!!!!! There is green slime on the side of the tank that wasn't there when I left on Friday evening. This is my fish at work. He is still swimming away in his tank - I don't know what to do!!!!

PLEASE HELP!! This is the longest I have keep a fish in awhile

Hey there... well we'll need more specific information about the tank in order to help you out better:

Water parameters?
What kind of tank (size, filtration, temperature, lighting, decorations)
Where is the tank located (in direct sunlight for long periods of the day?)

Exactly what kind of goldfish? If you only paid $.25 for him, I'd be willing to bet that it's "just" a feeder goldfish -- I've never seen any healthy ones, and the fact that he's been living/thriving for 2 months in your tank is a compliment to you!!

Word of advice - never buy goldfish from a store that has their comets or commons labeled as "feeders". The owners probably do not appreciate goldfish and hence, will not take good care of them. I agree that we need to know your water parameters, tank size, and so on.
