First i'll run you by my set up

So the other day i got a 5 1/2 gallon tank.... that i'm planning on making into a killi tank.

I got some black sand stuff in a bag from the pet store... and put it in.

Added conditioned water, and let run 1 day for the sand to settle (i have an aquaclear mini).

I added the filter spounge from my 20 gallon planted tank to the filter.

Two days later i added 5 cypts and 2 java fern.

I have been adding a little bit of fish food every day to keep the bacteria alive.

Now its about 3 days since i added the plants... and i just got a 35 gallon tank from a friend. The tank had water in the bottom with the gravel, so i assume they just drained it before they gave it to me (they didnt bother cleaning the gravel out or anything- they just drained the water).

There was a cool peice of rock in the 35 gallon that i tonight added to the killi tank. I also took some more crypts out of my Kribensis tank, and a few grassy plants out of my betta/frog tank.

WELL! If you all followed that- this is whats weird. So i just added the rock and new plants from my other tanks... i turn on the light... and there's little fry swimming around in the tank! Some are clinging to the glass and some are free swimming. They are so small... i have never seen fry this small. Where on earth did they come from!? I just noticed them now.... and i dont think they came from the filter spounge.

Could they have come in on the rock? I rinsed it really well in hot hot hot water.

The tiny little plants i took from my krib tank? They are definately not krib fry. Or betta or frog 'fry'! GAH!

I AM SO CONFUSED!

I brought some plants in from my pond once and had some hitchhiking polywogs to show for my trouble a few days later.

Let 'em grow out a bit and see what you have. Who knows, maybe the theory of Spontaneous Generation of Life was discarded too easily :D

My guess would be that they were hitching a ride with the java fern. No guess as to what they might be. I am curious as to what they are though.

Yes, i have decided they are danio fry. I have 6 danios in my 20 gallon planted tank, from which i removed the sponge from the filter several days ago.

I guess the eggs hatched in the 5 gallon and out came the fry!

Thats exactly what they look like.... teeny little guys. I have around 20....

I fed them baby brine shrimp but i think they are too small to eat them. Well i guess i'll raise them up more to see for sure what they are. :D
