Hello All,

I want to upgrade from a 29 gallon saltwater tank to a 65 gallon. I have live rock, a couple snails, and a Snowflake Eeel.

I was going to order a tank, stand, lights, and canopy, however, the guy I spoke with told me that if I want things to grow on my live rock I would need an intense light fixture and that I could not have a canopy with the intense lights because it would restrict air flow from the light fans. I really want the canopy because it is more attractive and hides things (like protein skimmer).

I have feather dusters growing on my live rock now and I have one light fixture with a 50/50 bulb (half blue light, half regular light).

If I went with a 65 gallon, double lights, with one blue bulb and one 10,000 watt bulb, would things still be able to grow on my live rock? I'd rather not loose the canopy to have growth on the rock, is there any way to make this work? :help:

Thanks for your help & suggestions.

Should work fine. LR and a lot of the hitch hikers that come with it do not NEED light but it does help some grow.

10,000 watt bulb!!!???

What was the light fixture that was more intense than this?

On a side note, you should be able to have growth even with Normal Output fluorescent lighting... if you want corals that's another thing.

I am sure they ment 10,000K bulb
