Upside down catfish ??

I have had an upside down cat for about a month . mostly he hides and i dont see him much.. the trouble is when i do see him ...he swims upright ??

he was in a tank at lfs with other cats and they were all upside down but this one seems to have changed his behavior ?

any ideas

Young synodontis swim upside down as a defensive posture. In the wild they tend to feed in the upper water column and predators come from below. As they get bigger they usually swim upright. It sounds like he feels no threat in his new home and is assuming a relaxed demeanor.

Not meaning to debate the above post.
I have two upsidedown cats both less than an inch long.
Only had them a couple weeks.
They stay hid most of the time.
When they do come out they will swim both upside down and upright, right between the noses of full grown Tiger Barbs.
Kinda funny.
Them Tiger Barbs will all look at each other like "What was that?" Then go on about their thing.
Them little cats are either brave or stupid. :huh:
