I dont know if this should be in the Cichlid forum because it really has nothing to do with Cichlids per se.

Anyway...

I bought 6 Africans today. I took out all but 4 of the feeders (I bought a 15 gal and put them in there). My Ammo is 0, Nitrites are 0, pH is 8.0, Alk is high (my kit doesnt have numbers, just low, normal, and high readings). So I slowly acclimated the fish to the water, etc. and everything was going well until I realized that one of the fish (a female exasperatus) wasnt actually swimming but was just floating upsidedown flapping her fins but not moving her tail at all. Shes breathing, and those front fins are flapping away but there is no movement in the rear half of her body, and she's upsidedown. Hmmmmmm.... This fish was packaged at the Pet Store with a Male. Maybe during transport he kicked her butt? I dont see any visible wounds (well there are a couple of nips in one of her front fins). The other five are Rockin and Rollin.

Well... I put her back in the bag she came from and put a drop of Melafix in there. If I dont see improvment by tomorrow, back to the store she goes.

Anyone have any Ideas?

No need to reply to this... The fish is hanging with Walt Disney... In otherwords, I froze it. After showing it to a trusted authority, I was advised to put it to sleep. I would have taken it back to the place where I got it however, that place is 70+ miles from me, it would have cost me more in gas money than the price of the fish.
