Hi, I'm using Pimafix to treat a little fungus in a Platy on a 30g tank and I'm in the third day of dosage (15ml or 5 per 10 US gallon) and she has almost nothing at all. Now the instructions are for 7 days and then a 25% water change. Is it really necessary the 7 days? If so could it harm any of my fish? (Pearl & dwarf Gourami, rummy nose, harlequin rasbora, praecox rainbow, albino cory, platy, pleco, algae eater). Any experiences are welcome! Thanks in advance!

Wow. This is the longest time I have waited in AC for an answer:omg:, I'm used to answers in 5 minutes:grinyes:. I hope I haven't made a mistake by using this product:uhoh:.

Yes run the full course, its better to be safe then have to repeat treatment.

Yeah that is funny, I didnt see this thread til now, lol. Weird

This a easy thread;I'm surprised no one has gotten to you except one person...

I can tell you that PimaFix is a light medication. You have nothing to worry too much about this medication. Keep up with the pima. Are you using mela as well? these are can be combined to work effectively. But hey, if pima is all ya got, what ya gotta lose...

Yeah, Pimafix is all I'm using, nothing else. Thanks for your responses.

To be honest, whilst there is nothing wrong with mela/pima...I sort of question its effectiveness for a diagnosed chronic disease - like fungus. I think it will certainly speed up healing...but for me is too low-impact to have any real effect.

I've used the combination and think its most effective application is to prevent a wound from becoming infected. I've never had it 'treat' anything successfully which would not, in all probability, have cleared up on its own given extra water changes and just a little more time.

I have used Pima and melafix in the past with no ill effects. As the others stated it is mild stuff, best used in conjunction with water changes to help speed recovery.
I did read on these boards thart melafix can be harmfull to laborinth fishes. Might want to keep an eye on the Gourami.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm only using Pimafix, I almost bought Melafix though, thank God I didn't.

I frequently use melafix to speed the healing of my gouramis fins when they get a little rough breeding and havn't had any ill effects from it.
