using a diatom to clear up ich

I finally get to use my diatom! Unfortunately its to clear up ich, O well. How long do I have to run it to clear up ich. It was such a pain in the butt to get that thing started the stuff leaked in the tank like crazy but it all cleared up in no time.

Are you treating also or just counting on the slim chance that every freeswimmer will get pulled into your filter before it finds a fish?

Diatoms can be helpfull, but I would not count on them to permanently rid your tank of ich

Dave Im from columbus too! how cool anyway... you may want to check out aqua adventure because they are having 50% off all livestock but I have raised the temp to 87 degree as well and it seems to be clearing up... none of my other fish have anything on them nor have they, and I have clown loaches, bala shark, and a black ghost knife... all pretty succeptable I know you love royals and all but thats what brought this monster into my tank!

You just have to keep in mind that ich infests the tank as well, it is not just limited to what you can "see" on the fish!
