Hi Friends !

Can Coal Pieces be used to decorate an Aquarium instead of Rocks ?

Actually I read in an aquarium book that Washed Coal can be used instead of Rocks to give a darker look - just wanted to know if its safe to use in my Frontosa tank ? If yes, then is there some special kind of coal that is to be used ?

Kindly advice and guide me...
Thanks and Regards

I would not. Coal can have sulfur and other toxins in it, and if it is not a very firm piece you will constantly have coal particles in the water, which besides being unsightly may actually cause respiratory problems for your fish. There are plenty of dark rocks around; just keep looking!

I totally agree, don't use coral in FW!!
