Hi,

Will it be ok to use multivitamins for human consumption tobe fed to fish?
liek crushing half a tablet of centrum and adding it to fish food?
willthere be any harm ?

There should not be a problem. Sometimes, I use antibiotics meant for people to treat fish. The only concern abouit Centrum is it has a lot of stuff in it, in human concentrations, so I don't know if there is too much of something there.

I know it's common to add VitaminB1 to tank water when there are predators that will be fed only with feeder goldfish, for these fish have en enzime that destroys that vitamin.

I think it's better to determine if your fish have a caertain vitamin/mineral deficience and then add only that nutrient to their diet.

thanks! i raise arowanas, and wasplanning to divide a centrum tablet into about 10pcs ormore and just stuff it into shrimps i feed my arowanas maybe every few days?

Buy liquid Centrum Soak food in it and feed it to the feeders before you put them in with your Arowana, I find the liqud vitamins much easier to deliver. As far as the need for vitamins, that is a subject of little good science and a lot of debate. I use them when helping people with HITH, and have used them off and on as a preventative, but do not know that they make any real difference as prevention goes.
Here are a couple articles from Tom's place. The HITH article deals pretty specifically with that disease, but does discuss some of the merits of vitamins as well as delivery options, and people vitamins verses aqurium vitamins. The other article Is against the use of vitamins, but I suspect it is directed more at folks who use high levels of vitamins chronically without a specified reason such as disease or specific defeciency.

I will say that I have seen no major drawbacks to using vitamins. But read up on it, and make your own choices.

Not sure on that one, I imagine it won't hurt but I just use Adult centrum in the liquid form. I've never tasted it (Prefer to swallow my vitamins) but it certainly does not smell sweet or even palatable.
