lookin at uv sterilizers on ebay. why does it say a 9 watt unit will do a 45 gallon aquarium or a 1000 gallon pond? if it will do a 1000 gallon pond why the diff?

green water, tried changing out some of the filters,not all as i dont want to start the cycle over water changes it'll be good for a day and goes back green, been blacked out for over 2 days now gonna wait till tomorrow see if that helps havent fed since i blacked the tank tho i never over feed em anyway. went ahead and ordered the uv wont get here till sometime next week but if that doesnt work i'll tear that tank to the bone and start over
The 9 watt UV will be enough for a 1000 gallon pond if it is only used for green water algae. Different things require a different amount of UV to be effective. They probably figure that in a tank you will be using it for disease control instead of green water.
