I just wanted to know if anyone in here has had a Valentini Puffer before/currently. If so, what type of behavior can I expect from my newest purchase? I have heard/read that they can be reef eaters, but the women I bought him from claims she has never had a problem with them eating reefs. (She has been in the business 20 years). She had mentioned that they also sleep funny. Can anyone elaborate on that? I am confident in my purchase but am more curious of other peoples experiences with them.

Any story you have for me will prove to be enjoyable reading.

Thanks in advance!

some are quite agressive i use to feed my eel goldfish and the valentini would poke the eyes of the gold fish and rip him and half but they all act different i dont know maybe mines just vicious.

Big Warning
My LFS told me the same thing when i got my solandri puffer much to my horror he gradually put all my shrimps on his menu and ate them all all i was finding was litlle bits of them left in the tank

On posting in forums i found out that this was a habbit of nearly all puffers so be careful i had to takle mine back in the end very upsetting as he had loads of character

They're not especially aggressive to other fish, but it's goodbye crabs, shrimps feather dusters and most anything else. Sponges?

You have a pretty heavy load on than tank too. You'll soon find that anthias can be pretty mean too, as can the maroon

Yeah taht is a pretty aggressive tank. The puffer will make short work of any shrimp it finds.

Your fish willlikely be ok but the rest will suffer. Of course you could be lucky... Its a risk though and not one i would be willing ot take.

I saw one today at a LFS and got to feed it three glass shrimp. Definitely aggressive. He went on a search and destroy mission, cornered the shrimp and gobbled them up.

Very cool fish though...
