I have an opportunity to buy a 100 gallon acrylic tank with metal halide lights, a wet dry filter and a protien skimmer. It's a complete set-up with matching stand and hood. I am struggling with what a set-up like this is worth. The aquairum does have some scratches on the inside.

The price we have discussed is $650, and the seller will deliver to my house. Any opinions on if that price is fair or silly high for a used system?

Thanks!

there are a lot more variables here.
is the tank RR or is it a HOB overflow?
what is the brand of the skimmer/MH, ect? how old are they all?
the scratches, are you able to see them when full of water?
all things you might want to think about

Yes, the scrathes can been seen when the tank is full. The tank is a Clarity Plus and is said to be five years old. The protein skimmer is a Reef Devil. The tank is currently set-up and is pretty dirty with lots of allegy blooms. Otherwise, it looked clean for being used. The wet dry filter has a sump and the tank does have an overflow.

Does this give a better idea of the outfit?

yeah, it sounds like a pretty good deal in my own personal opinion. do you know the brand of the MH? if the guy's got a quality skimmer like a reef devil, iw oudl imagine the Mh is at least halfway decent.
since it is also acrylic, the scratches can be pretty easily buffed out.
is the canopy and such in good shape? like will it need finishing? if so, how handy are you with those things?
and cleaning wont be hard, as soon as you empty it, jsut go around with a scraper (it might be more effort than a glass tank since you cant use a razor)
it sounds pretty good to me if the above check out.
of course, i'm sure someone else around will also have another opinion. :)

That price doesn't sound bad to me. I've seen similarly sized used systems cost about the same around where I live.
