Veggies for Gouramis?

Green or red leaf lettuce. You can blanch it for 30 in boiling water, but don't have to do this. Clip the lettuce to the side of the tank, and they will nibble on it. Might take a few days for them to figure out it's food--be patient, but make sure it doesn't start breaking down. Zucchini and (odd, I know) orange slices can be floated in the tank for them as well.

I always thought fruit was a bad idea becasue of the citric acid.

Doesn't slice give of acidic juices? I'm guessing they would'nt be enough to effect the ph of the tank, but could it be enough to mess the fish if they're up close to the slice when feeding?

I've never seen a problem in my tank. I don't feed it all that often, but most fish will enjoy it everyone now and then.
