all right....this post written in a fit of rage!!!!!!

another one bites the dust as they say. I F#$%*ng so heated right now. ? for all....any and all comment and suggestions please.

ICK...WTF!!...can't get rid of it.....and when the fish get it...no way in hell is myself or anybody else for that matter getting them out.

To much damn rock!
I feel like i myself are ruining the worlds fishes by bringing them to my tank...

what can i do to get rid of it....heard you can't.
I can't dip either...can't even catch 'em...never mind the work to get the dead out.

HELP

I know I am new to this...but - rock should not be the problem. I have studied long and hard and only found beneficial information from the rock. One of my butterflies caught the ich, and I successfully got rid of it. Please be persistent and patient. You need to treat the disease even after the evidence is gone. I don't mean to be persistent with it... and hope you take no offense - u may already have gone thru that. If so, I am sorry... I hope you find the culprit of what is starting it (some kind of stress). In any case - good luck, I know how frustrating it could be when you feel you have nowhere to turn.

:(

to: gcvt.....it sure was.....

i've been told not to treat the whole tank and try to dip. Which is fine, but getting those fish out can be almost impossible. The LR is not the problem, if anything i know its helping water quality.

how should i treat it even when no symptoms? should i dip the fish even when no signs....
can i treat the tank?
thanks guys

I went ahead and treated the tank. I had first, the dilemma of catching the guy.... then, thought about the other fish - even tho they didnt have the "ich" visibly on them, they could very well have the disease too. So I decided to treat the whole thing. You would need to take out any activated carbon while it is being treated - I treated mine for about 5 days. A water change (not a big one... 20% maybe) should be done in about a week (5 days or so).

Not saying this is the law, but that is what I did... the Butterfly has been fine for about a month now... and the others - didnt even seem affected.

I really hope this helps you... best of luck with whatever you do. ;)

thank you for the imput, its very much appreciated.

i have carpet anenomies, a haitian bubble anenome, and some sof and hard corals growing.

what can i use that won't hurt them?
i have a bottle of "formulum 3" (something like that) and i have a formaldahyde consentrate........

i don't think the formaldahyde would be a good idea...but i've been found to be sadly mistaken.....

Ahhh... wasn't aware of the inverts... in that case, Quicktip - ich usually or at least believed to be transmitted by inverts - because ultimately they really cannot be treated, because the treatment can kill them (usually copper). For a tank that is set up for both fish and inverts, both a protein skimmer, to keep nitrate levels low enough for invertebrates, and an ultra violet sterilizer, to help prevent ich infestations, are recommended. Best suggestion.... set up a quarantine tank... size doesn't really matter, as your guys should only spend max 2 weeks.

Also - there is a website that is really helpful... here are a few of the more specific links...

..and finally the main one

Best of luck with how you attack this project. Would love to know the plan and results...

:p

i really appreciate the help KAPFishous!

i am using a prizm skimmer......was told not to use a sterilizer with a reef...going to due more research on that though.

i will keep you posted on the outcome.......

I agree... research plenty.. and best of luck to ya!!!:D Cant wait to hear to outcome.
