Just looking for some opinions... Would you wait to add more fish after a few unexplained deaths? I had 3 corys and 3 blackskirt tetras in QT for 3 weeks. Within 2 weeks of adding them to my main tank 2 of the corys have died, along with one of my guppys which I've had for almost a year...The main tank has perfect water readings, been up for a while, no deaths, no aggression. I am hoping that the corys were not in the best shape to begin with and the guppy was getting old, but I don't know why I didn't see more signs or trouble while the corys were in QT  (the first couple days they were breathing a bit heavy, and I found one on his side a couple of times).

So, since I QT, am I being paranoid, can I get more fish?!? Or should I wait? Should I QT longer than 3 weeks this time?!?

First off sorry for the deaths :( but Id say your doing everything right and keep doing what youre doing. There are always unexplained deaths and always will be.......your cories were probobly unhealthy to begin with....where even the minimal stress of moving them to a new tank was enough.

Youre already taking way more precautions than most people including myself.....so go ahead and get more fish......better luck with the next batch

The fish that died IMO are not the hardiest fish in the tank. I've lost both of these fish weeks after adding them for no reason at all in healthy well established tanks. I imagine if you started a thread where people named fish that died for no reason, then cories and gupies would top the list.

Thanks, I just dread the idea of having to treat a big tank, so I think I'm turning paranoid :o I guess I was just suprised to have any problems. I've been getting my fish from a petco, but it is actually really good. I even managed to get clown loaches from them that were healthy and ich free. AND they asked how big of a tank I had for them :bowing:
