NORMAL, ILLINOIS 3:30 P.M. -- Today I saw a Betta which had no business being sold sold at Wal-Mart...or almost did...three times. This Betta was obviously fungused and I pointed that out to three families...right in front of the "fish clerk" (random person from halfway across the store as far as I can tell...) The f.c. took it off the rack and was going to dispose of it later...I wonder what that means?

I don't think their evil. Just uneducated goofballs who don't want to be educated. You'd think they would hire people who knew what they were talking about.
IMO, Home Depot around here is the same way with their plants... They have gorgeous $20 dollar orchids (worth more) that just waste away there...

i feel sorry for the guy over the pet department and thus the fish manager at my local walmart. he has kept fish at home for some time befor he became the manager and never had the problems or diseases that the fish come to the store with.... honestly if they had a better fish supplier that shipped out healthy fish I would consider shopping there, but instead walmart tries to save a buck and buy cheepo every thing and ends up loosing majorly on the fish.. the thing is he is the only one that knows squat about the fish there and he cannot be there the whole time the store is open
Yeah, I know guys like that at PetSmart in Rockford. God love 'em, but they're over their head just because of poor stock...
Oh, yeah, Wal-Mart today, 80-100 Rosy Reds in one of those small display tanks...only five swimming about freely...all the rest were suctioned to the filter (except for the six dead on the floor of the tank...)

Walmart just doesn't understand that you can't market pets like t-shirts and expect everything to be just fine. Walmart has a policy of cutting expenses to the bone and it will always show up in livestock quality.
In a way I am glad of this cause/effect syndrome they and the big box pet chains suffer from. It separates those who care from those who just play the game.

Hey, Im not defending walmart in any way, but my local walmart finally stopped selling pacu's. They did have a tank with like 9 or 10 fry. Sign said reached max size at 6 to 8 inches. Ha... Now I live in a small town, how many people would have a tank to support that fish. I bet alot of them went into 10 gal tanks. Thats just not right. Tim
