i bought these plant bulbs from wal mart just to try. they are supposed to be hardy aponogeton plants, anyways its been about a week, and they havent started to sprout yet. any sugestions? should i bury them under the gravel? thanx guys
ok thanx i guess i never learned my lesson on trusting what they write on the box. in big print they have "just drop the bulb into the aquarium and watch them grow(6" to 8" in just 15 days)"
lol the smaller print says the guarantee is if the bulb fails to sprout within 20 days. lol alot of variations i will take your advice and bury them thanx
I got those about 8 months ago. 6 came in a package. Within 3 days, I had about 6 inch sprouts on two of them. After about 6 days 2 others had sprouted. The other two never did anything (I left them in for about a month and a half). Three of the four sprouters are still doing well... the other one puts out tiny little shoots that are only about 3-6 inches tall. For several months they even shot funny looking spiky flowers right out of the tank...kept having to lop those off.
I just dropped them in. They sort of anchored themselves if I remember correctly. I moved them to where I wanted them after they sprouted. Right now two of them are completely buried and the other two are nestled down into the gravel but still visible. Doesn't seem to make a difference in my tank.
i brought them a few times, i noticed if nothing happens in a week they won't grow but you might try keeping them longer its just sometimes mine start growing white fuzz. im also in the process of mailing some of the bad ones back to try to get more. I just drop them in and they start sprouting then when their leaves start growing ill bury them about halfway down. -john
