Walmart 55gal aquarium light

The box at walmart does not say, and the staff there doesn't know either, so i will ask here.

the light fixture is a single or double light fixture, and at what wattage are the flourscent light/s? also, if someone can tell me if this will be good for a moderate planted aquarium.

Most likely it is not enough wattage for plants. The wattage of the 29 gallon package was only 18 watts with a single bulb.

Put it this way...

...any tank package you get at Walmart will not be appropriate for plants. They are targeting novices who do not know better (walmart is), so they dont figure you'll question their lighting system until after you buy it and all the plants die.

It comes with 2 15w flourescent bulbs (18" each)- for a measely total of 30w. Definitely not enough for any plants, but just fine for fish-only tanks

I just went out and bought 4 48" (40w/ea.) shop lights to replace them and then used the lights that came with it on different tanks.
