and then hopefully rebuild it.

I asked the Monster guys next store, and they pretty much agree, it's gotta happen if the Puffers are gonna have a pond in the house.
Its a 185 double waterfall tank. The same kind they had at Petco years ago. It was once pretty regal, so we'll see how it go's. This is my first rebuild.
Please give me your advise, ideas, suggestions, ANYTHING! I dont want to go at it alone. :)20160624_164847.jpg

I can barely remember those..

I suspect you will want to make sure it's as clean as possible, you can try hot water, vinegar, oxyclean, etc to try to help with water stains.

and probably the best thing right now would be to read up on plumbing, I can't imagine it's terribly simple on that beast!

The fun part of this is I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm relying my buddy Norm who's the expert, Google, and you good people to talk me through it. Good thing it was a donation!
The progress so far: I managed to get 1 panel off, and discovered dry rot. Bought a filet knife, cause I dont dare use any solvents.
How long does it usually take to take apart a tank?20160730_234657.jpg 20160730_234706.jpg 20160730_234742.jpg 20160730_234802.jpg

It's normally much quicker to take apart a tank than it is to put it back together ;)

Yeah Doug, It's apparently a real relic from the 80's. Was hoping to restore the whole thing, but looks like all i can salvage is the glass.
I got the filter from Norm. The kind they use in commercial display tanks. 20160801_104809.jpg

Ugh.. I lost count of the number of silicone joints on that "tank". Cool setup when new, but I know what I'd do with it at this point..

I think they were used in the 2000s, I remember seeing them then.

But good luck with the restoration :)
