Does anyone know a website or a article about a Under Ground Filter.
I was just interessted in learning about them because i might be getting a small real small aquarium that has a UGF built into it and i wanted to know just excatly how they work before i go off and buy it.

So any articles, websites, forums, or anything that would help me understand would be helpfull.

and don't say go get a book from the library, cuz i already tried that and there wasn't that much info.

I was going to say do a forum search here but unfortunatly that feature is currently disabled. They area fine filter as long as you make sure to keep them clean. That means keeping up with weekly gravel vacuuming to reduce the buildup of crud under the plate.

RTR and others here really like the UGF though they generally do RUGF where they hook up a powerhead to push water through the tube and then up through the plate. Traditional UGF creates a pull through the plate. The RUGF tends to avoid the buildup issues of the standard UGF, though a small tank might be tricky to do that with.
