Was it dangerous?

I dont know if it was dangerous, but maybe they should agree on the facts.

a day after a powerful earthquake killed at least one person and injured 193 others as it toppled buildings

At least one person was killed and injured 214 others were hurt along the country's Sea of Japan coast,

cars can be swept away by as little as 6 inches of water, depending on the flow and volume behind it. water is a powerful force, i'd venture to say the most powerful natural force on earth. it wasn't a typo about the 6 inch tsunami, that's how the TV news agencies reported it as well.

The tsunami after XMas 2005 (?) was only a few feet tall... Until it got to the shelf, and then it grew to something like 20 or 30 feet. Or more. Tsunamis aren't very tall when at sea, but they become tremendously higher when they near land. And as little as 2 inches will sweep a person off their feet, and as mentioned 6 inches will move vehicles. LARGE vehicles.
