Water changes in my 120

Our city water has chloramine, so I have to treat the water during water changes. I'm fishy cycling a new tank right now and adding water back in the aquarium is a horrible pain because my 120 gallon tank is high up. I have been treating the water in 5 gallon increments and pouring it in bucket by heavy bucket (that is 12 buckets for a 50% water change). My question is, can I add water directly to the tank via a hose while simultaneously adding the water conditioner? Will this take out the chloramine before it has time to bother the fish?

Thanks

Sure!

Add to the tank, then fill 'er up!

Even better than the buckets is the Python.

I can do a PWC in all my tanks (see sig) in 30 minutes; and thats including doing some gardening, getting a cup of coffee and a smoke!

if there are many fish in there iwould say no. chloramine doesnt affect the fish as much as it does the biofilter.

i use a 10G bucket with a pond pump ($18) and just pour my water in there from buckets of dechlorinated water. it doesnt matter how small it is because if it is bigger than the flow of your sink then it will run dry between buckets. having a hose on the pump helps too... :duh:

yes, do it all the time on my 75/90/125's...use python and adjust temp out of the tap

I bought a 25-foot Python at Wal-Mart about $32 . You can drain water and fill water back to the tank.

hello all,
if you change 20 gallons of water, you only need to add conditioner for 20 gallons . Is that right? I have 125-gallon tank. it would be a lot of conditioner though.

thanks all!

That is right. Just add the water conditioner for the water that you are replacing.

If you are using a python how do you know exactly how much water you are replacing? If you use prime one capfull treats 50 gallons.
