So I have a quick question for the more experience members out there.
My tank is kept at 80 degrees. So, when I change the water, is it better to add water that is fresh from the tap that is 80 degrees with a mix of hot and cold water or is it better to add water that might be at like 76 degrees but has been sitting out at room temp for a while?
I am asking this because I was reading some shrimp posts and they suggested not to use the hot water from the taps because they contain more pollutants that can harm the shrimp. However, if I fill my water containers with cold water, add seachem prime and then let them sit out for a day, it will be a few degrees cooler than my tank water. So... if I add that to my tank water, it will lower the temp of my tank, which I understand is bad for the fish. I'm only doing a 20 percent water change, so it shouldn't be too bad, but it still drops the temperature relatively quickly.
So, what do people do around here when they do a water change with tap water that is a different temp from their tank water?
