What should my water test results be that are ok for frsh water. nitrite Ammonia and ph?

assuming you have cyced the tank.

ammonia and nitrite should be 0
pH is variable dependant on your source of water and will vary from region to region.

the big this with fish is to keep the pH stable..this gets a little more complicated as pH stability is related to the clacium hardness of the water.(kH)

ok cause im reading 7.4 ph ammonia is inbetween .25 and 0 and nitrite is .25 climbing from .15 from sat. so im thinking my tank is cycling

yes your tank is cycling

keep an eye on it..
is this a fishless cycle? if it is..then keep going. give it a few more weeks and you should be fine.

i have done one water change a couple of days ago. I was using mardell dip strip test but took my water to lfs to test it and the readings were completely differ. so i purchesed a liquid kit and this is helping me out more. the lfs said not to change the water yet let it be. why is this
