Water quality problems ( pH / GH / KH ).. help!

Honestly I can't say as I don't have a test kit for that, and if I go to the pet shop to spend any more money this week.. my wife might hurt me.. real bad! ( tho im sure i can cox her to let me get some crushed coral or the like ).
 
Well.. i tested the GH and KH of my tap water and they are fairly low. I suspect one of the big rocks are to blame for this. I've taken one out in hopes that it is the culpret. I have been able to slightly lower the GH with a water change and im using a KH booster as well to get that up now. I also learned a couple plants i got were non aquatic.. was causing quite a lot of cloudy ness. Grrr. i hate it when pet shops label plants as aquatic just cuz they are semi aquatic. BAD BAD BAD :sad

Hopefully i'll have this all sorted with a few more water changes :)
