In my 10 gallon tank when water sprite grows to the top of the water it starts to bend over and the begins to cover the top. In my 5 gallon tank the water sprite (cuttings from the same plants) is growing straight up and out of the water.

Has this happened to other peoples water sprite? I kind of like the look of it growing out of the water but will eventually have to cut it back. Just curious I guess as to the major difference there.

The water sprite in my 10 gallon does the same as in your 10 gallon. I do have a few strands that grow just out of the water about 1/4 inch as they uncurl but then drop in when they get heavy - or hit the glass which is under 1/2 inch away. The only thing I can think of is different canopy arrangements? If it's growing out in your 5, there must not be the same height restrictions? Otherwise, I don't know.

I have a glass sliding canopy on the 5 gallon which in theory will let the water sprite grow out of the tank but it hasn't made it that far yet. In the 10 gallon it won't even leave the water at all. Crazy plant I guess. I kind of like both results as it drapes over the water in one tank making good coverage and the cool effect of watching it grow right out of the water in the other. I always wanted one of those open top tanks that have plants growing out of them. Maybe that is the way to go with my little 5 gallon.
