I am looking into starting a discus tank, from what i have been reading they require excellent water quality. I am needing to buy some new testing supplies. Looking for the discus experts opinions on the most accurate and preferred test kits.

test strips vs drops. any brands reccomended?

what kits i will need to test. I want to make sure i am fully prepared before i purchase any fish.

Right now i have a 110 gal that i started currently housing assortments of african cichlids, but i am moving them to a different tank. I have a fluval 404 currently running, will be adding sponge filter and a new heater.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

API liquid drops are your best bet. Test for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH. All four are pretty basic. Test kits for KH (carbonate hardness0 and GH (general hardness) are to be bought separately as they are not included in the master test kit package.

:iagree: X 2 and "just say NO to test strips", LOL!
