Watermelon Crab (Fiddler??) help

i also have a watermelon crab. i got it two days ago at wal-mart. i am have the same problem as you. i have no idea what to do with it! i have searched everywhere for info. but there is none to be found! i know a few things so here goes. it is fully mature when it reaches about 1 and a half inches. it does not stay fully submersed but is consistently climbing in and out of water. it eats just about anything, loves fresh veggies, and right now i am experimenting with hermit crab treats. i am feeding it baby shrimp currently. but i cant really tell if he likes them yet. i know they like to burrow tunnels in and out of the dirt. but my problem is bedding. the pet shop man told me to use hermit crab sand instead of potting soil. but im thinking that was dumb. because he didnt know what a watermelon crab was, and because since i changed it my crab refuses to come down off his rock. i am trying to find out if sand is ok for it, but no luck yet. let me know if you find anything. hope i helped a little...

yeah, have you ever seen a sand crab before, i think thats wahst they are, but i dont know exactly what there scientific name is, i definatley know they are salwater and they live in wet or moist sand .

If it is a fiddler crab and you decide to keep it.....make sure your crabbie can't get out of the tank. They are marvelous escape artists. Don't doubt for a second that they can't scurry up an airtube or filter intake...they can. I came home in time to discover mine walking across the counter.
i found wanna mine under my sisters dresser, about 50 ft away from tank!!!wow. and also found a big wound inside the filter. feeding on the algae

So.
i bought what i was told, a watermelon crab. i am looking on the internet and can barely find anything about them--and what i find, leads me to believe it is in fact a fiddler crab.

which is brackish AND doesn't fully live underwater... (in the tank there was no way for it to get out of the water)

anyone have any experience w/ this fish?

it looks like a watermelon (hence it's name) and has one giant red claw (thus, i gathered, a male).

any help would be much appreciated.
it is totally cute,
but i am thinking i am going to have to take it back

they act just like regular fiddler crabs
