Ways to control platy populations

I'm planning to move my juvenile platies from the 20 gal to the 55 (see my sig for current stock). I thought all my juveniles were female, but turns out there was a late-blooming male who got the girls pregnant while I was away on vacation. I've now got 5 more fry .
Even though I'm a softie, I can't go on saving fry. I am assuming that if I move the platies into the 55, the rosy barbs will keep the fry population under control. I've seen my barbs hunt down scuds, so I'm guessing fry will be no different. Do you guys agree? Or will my 55 be in danger of being overrun with platies?

Ive never had them survive hardly.
Some will get stuck in filter. Others will get ate.
Most of mine always got ate.

even platies are good at keeping numbers down; no doubt that the 5 fry were once about 40.

Yes, the adults in our 10 gallon polished off all their babies--except the ones we started saving and putting in the 20, who are now the new parents. Thing is, these are definitely teenage pregnancies. The platies in the 20 are barely a half an inch. I didn't even think they could fit the fry in their mouths.
Oh well, I'll move the larger ones into the 55 soon, and the smaller ones later. I'm going to try and give the males away until I just have females.
Thanks for the responses everyone!
