We think she's a dog, but...

so i am curious ..lol if one is mac..one is cheese whats the grey ones name?

Border collies aren't universally short nosed, or short legged. My mom has 2, one with a much longer snout, and while they look short legged, a lot of that is because the hair hangs down so much. The ears, the coloration, the small feet, slender waist and definitely the speed are all border collie traits.

The variability within breeds is part of the problem, or fun of the game. Add in the possibility that she could be a mix of 6 different breeds, and we'll probably never know the real answer.

Sam, her buddy, is definitely a BC mix, with the classic half-floppy ears, black&white coloration and tendencies toward herding. And, despite his extra 20 lbs compared to her, he has incredible speed and agility when chasing through the woods.

the white feet throw me off

It's pretty funny to see her running on the path in the morning. Looks like she's tiptoeing through the mud in white socks.

Whatever she is, she's a sweet and smart girl.

Yep, they're great dogs. I've had purebreds and mutts, and like them all. There seems to be something that happens when you own a dog so that you think it's the best dog in the universe.

Just to be the one to suggest something from left field...

German Shepard part of the mix...definitely
But based on the shape/look of the face/head/smile, and those ears how about coyote?

I personally would lean towards australian sheperd mixed with Greyhound wiemeranner or maybe whippet. The blue with the white chest is pretty common with aussies. But it definately had to be crossed with something longer and thinner to get that look. I have an aussie sheperd cross (we guess) here at home, and no one including the vet can really pen point what he is for sure.

welll...we were going to name her Kraft ;) ...but she's actually "Riley". We got Macaroni from the pound and a 5 year old child named her and had to give her up because he was allergic to cats. and she answered to Macaroni or Mac so we couldnt change her name. and we got Riley about 6 months later. and then Cheese was born about a year later. it started as a joke, because we'd call Mac and the kitten would come too. so we started saying "Mac and Cheese" and it stuck.

Not out of the question. There are coyotes around here these days, and she does look hungrily at the neighborhood cats.

I was talking to a friend this morning who was suggesting I make up an obscure breed name. Blancmange Nicoise sounded pretty good to me.

:thm: what a cutie!!! I'm going to throw this in here.... husky and greyhound. I know that she resembles shepherd but with those small compact white feet and that coat/body build I'm really leaning towards husky... not all of them have the masks and "generic husky markings"... and she is lean and her head/ears and general body structure make me believe that there is some greyhound in her. Well of course no matter what she is... she seems like a sweetie! :dog:
