Ill be gone for a week and was wondering if anyone recommended any feeders for the guppies. also, should I leave the filter (biowheel) on all the time or should I timer it like the lights? if I leave it on all the time will it suck up all the food? will my snails and algae eaters eat it all? I hate having to leave them  but sending a 12g setup with someone else doesnt make much sense. (I will be sending my fry tank though... those are MY BABIES!)

Keep your filter on all the time.

Your fish will actually be just fine for a whole week without food. Your guppies will just eat algae and you will most likely return to see your water cleaner and clearer than it has ever been.

When we went on our honeymoon, we left for 2 weeks and had someone come in once to feed the fish.

Unless you can buy a battery operated feeder then don't feed them, they will be fine. I skip several days feeding every so often to keep my fish hungry.

those vacation feeders arent worth even considering. petsmart uses them regularly in their tanks, and they dissolve in about 2 days tops (they use the "14 day" ones). when i go on vacation i just feed a lot before i go and a lot as soon as i get back. my fish have always been fine doing this. occasional long periods without food will onyl cause problems if the fish are already sick. always keep filters on at all times. if you want there are automatic feeders that go off twice a day. you put in your regular food, calibrate it so the right amount comes out, and that will feed them twice a day, whatever amount you set it for. this is probably the best method (better than doing nothign liek i do). they are kind of expensive though ($20-30) but you can even use them when you arent on vacation.

Darn it yucca! :D
