I found a small slug-like creature adhering to the glass in my new aquarium. It is rather small and oval shaped (1/4-1/2 in.). It has two very long "tentacles" (can extend to more to about 5 in.) that are sort of feathery looking. These tentacles are very thin and hair-like. It will slowly extend these tentacles and then retract them very rapidly if they touch something. The creature move very slowly across the glass (1-2 in. per day). It has a mottled light brown coloration. I'll try to get a picture tonight if My camera will cooperate, but I imagine that the tentacles will not show up because they are so fine. Has anyone seen this before? What is it? Should I get rid of it?

Please do get a pic!!

Though a picture would be nice, it sounds to me like a Spaghetti worm not harmful and good water cleaners... however they can be a nuisance because they spread fast and aren't really ascetically appealing...

Keep a watch on it... If it really only has 2 tentacles then I don't know what it is... otherwise you should see it spread out like hair...

Sorry guys, I couldn't get my camera to focus on it. It definitely isn't any sort of algae.

I looked more closely and I can see what appeared to be some form of intestines on its underside pressed against the glass. Also the topside of the creature has a somewhat rough appearance, not smooth as I depicted in the picture. It is semi-transparent with a camoflage-like brown pattern. I thought I could make out two eye stalks but the thing is so tiny that I can't be sure. It really just looks like a booger with 2 feathery tentacles. Is there any jellyfish life stage that looks like this? That is my best guess right now because it almost looks like a jellyfish that got spatted on the glass.

It appears to have reproduced. I now have about 10 of these. I found about 7 smaller ones (1/8in. by 1/8in.) yesterday and two bigger ones (3/8in. by 1/4in.). They all have exactly two tentacles that can extend and rapidly retract. One of the bigger ones I found yesterday can extend its tentacles about 10in.!!! I am a little afraid to put my hand in the tank until I know if these are dangerous.

Thanks for the help. Sorry for the lack of a picture.
