Hi everyone!

I have three Upside-Downers thats I've had for over a year now. For about the first six-eight months they were hiding in the hiding places I made for them. But for about the last six months they have been constantly hanging around this corner were the heater is. They're always having little tuffs. My question is, why are my Upside-Downers hanging around in the light by the heater when they could be in my many hiding places I made for them, including my bogwood pile with tons of dark hiding places?

Thanks

I don't mean to sound sarcastic, but has there been a change in the temp since you first started keeping these guys? Sometimes it is easy to overlook the obvious. :) Also, without knowing the size of your tank, a couple more of these fish would be good. They like to be in a bit larger group.

Hi,

Thanks for responding!

Nope, the temp has not dropped (if anything a degree warmer) and is set at 26C (sorry, I'm Canadian:)). The tank is a 54 gallon. I was thinking about getting more a while ago, but now the three constantly bicker between themselves. They sometimes rip their fins in fights. They are fat fighting machines. But I love 'em!

I still think you might try adding a few more to the group. I have always read that they are better off in groups of at least 6 or more. Do you have pics of your tank? Sounds nice.. 54 gallons!

Hi,

I will soon, when my dad helps me with posting the pics. Thanks, but do you have any idead why there not hding in the bogwood pile?

Well, typically, they like to huddle together, though not necessarily in a hiding place. They may be more comfortable enough now (last six months versus the first six months) to be out in other areas of the tank. See what happens if you rearrange the hiding places.

[edit].. one other thing... are the hiding places still the right size to accomodate all of them together at the same time?

Hi,

Yep, they could all easily fit together in my bogwood pile. Thanks for your help, but I think I came to a conclusion myself, and that is there just kinda weird.

Thanks again!

my two used to hang out at the heater until I put a castle in for them. They do nip each other now and again. Sometimes the bigger one can be alittle aggressive if the other tries to take his spot but other than that mine are pretty peaceful. Hint they also like a change in their surroundings as well!!!
