corona, ca
a lfs near me called me up to let me know that they had picked up a pair of L239s. i drove right over and picked up one of them; a potential female.

i have to say, the fish looked excellent. fat and healthy; there were no outward signs of disease or injury. there were no external parasites to be seen. according to the people who own the store where i picked up the L239, the people they bought them from had had them for around a month. this means the chances that they are eating are very good. color is excellent and sizes were around 2.5-3" long. the remaining pleco is a definate male. if anyone in southern california is interested in an L239, pm me and i will give you the name, address and phone number for the store.

yay :)

I have read about your misfortunes over on MFK, and first of all very sorry for the bad luck. It sounds like you have found a healthy one. Good luck and congrats on the pick up.

Yay Jenn! Hope for real good luck this time! And pics, pics, pics!!!!:)

thanks guys.

no takers on the remaining nice looking L239?

it has been a week. this little gal appears to be pretty healthy. she got a touch of ich (probably due to stress) that we cleared right up. shes pretty active as well. i havent seen her eat yet, but i know how ridiculously shy these guys are. her eyes are still bulgy and her belly isnt sunken so its not desperate yet. shes being named rachel, after the prostitute vincent van gogh (for whom my little male is named for) sent his earlobe to after fighting with gauguin (little art history for you).

i will be making up food/egg slate for her.

and vincent has a hole on his nose. its quite perterbing. its got clean edges and does not appear to have any fungus/bacteria growing out of it. there is only one; its on his snout and its the size of a small cichlid pellet. were upping the water change schedule on the 55 and trying out dabs of neosporin (were starting conervatively here). if need be, he will be quarantined, but in the mean time, im afraid it will stress him out more to move him than to leave him be
