 After 2 weeks of hoping my incurable sick betta would let nature take over and expire, he kept hanging on miserably!! Today I just snapped and could not take the fact the he was so miserable, gasping to breath and starving himself, so I got the guts to put him in a "Betta Place". I scooped him up (w/o a fight, put him in a paper towel and a plastic baggie. Then I took him outside on the cement, said a prayer and whacked him w/ a big iron mallet!! Then I buried him in a box. I'm sad because Goldie was the best and longest time, of a fish I ver had. My Buddy!! But at the same time, I am relieved to know that he is not suffering anymore!!!

Thank you!!! I don't want to pat myself on the back, but than again, I am such a wuss about those things!!! You support makes me feel so much better!!! Thank you!!! :thud:

Good for you, I hope I never have to do that myself. I know I would take the wimpy way out, I already asked my husband if he would be able to do one of the quicker methods like you did and he said no  . Do you plan on getting another?

Thanks Holly, for asking. Yes, I got another young male betta a few weeks ago. I got him to help inspire Goldie. But, Goldie did not even flare a the other one (Baby) my daughter named him. He is a absolute beautiful, extremely colorful, young male!!! And he is a spaz!!! He's a joy, but no other will come close to Goldie! Goldie had such a great personality!! Not like a goldfish that freak out constantly looking for food going "glub-glub". Goldie would follow me around from one side of the room to the other. He got a few sicknesses, but always hung in there until I doctored him up!!! I had him for almost 2 years. I'm sure going to miss that little guys!!! When I put him down, (which I'm surprised because I am so squweemish, I felt like I was shooting Old Yeller!!!!) Some people go, "oh, Geez!! Fish, smish, big deal!!!! I'm so glad I found this website where people understand. Thanks for your kindness and concern!!!!
