a "light beard", huh? that's really not how i pictured you at all. isn't that weird that your opinion of people can change once you know their appearance? actually the fact that you're 6 ft really changes my impression of you.

age, too. i was surprised as all h*ll that dorkfish is not, like, 35 or 40. he sounds like it sometimes. NorthStar, too. i thought he was at least 30.

i've said this before, fishcatch, you're a good person (I struggled for the right word, didn't want to call you "kid") and well on your way to becoming a great biologist and all-around pet owner. you're already a true animal-lover and obviously have deep compassion for all living things, great or small. the image of a 6-ft guy with a beard cooing over a little mouse with a hurt foot is very endearing :)

once again, you're already well on your way. don't rush it, you have the rest of your life to do great things! just enjoy being a "kid" while you still can, because you'll be thankful for those times at home with your mom 20, 30 years from now.

i'm sorry the kids at your school and around you can't appreciate you for who you are. that's their loss. they are obviously immature, shallow, and superficial. the kind of people who have a blast in high school always end up longing for those days as adults. they'll never be as cool as they were then.

but i was an "unpopular" kid in high school, too, and proudly so. i wasn't a "nerd", more like an anarchist/punk type. very dark and gloomy.

it only gets better. especially in college and beyond when you can surround yourself with quality people who have similar interests. heck, if i had the $$ i'd send you a ticket so you could come down here and hang out with me at my lab! at least get a chance to see what it's like when you finally get to weed out the stupid, petty, and undesirable.

i'm always going to try to be a friend to you,
Paula

p.s. sorry if i embarassed anyone with my gushing in this post. i didn't want it to be PM because i thought fishcatch could use hearing this in public :)
I'm not ashamed...

don't worry, I was always the cute little kid, and all my mother's friends loved me. she even told me someone once tried to kidnap me, I was so cute, and I was finally happy to be a man... don't worry... I know I will find good people in college, i'm already finding them at the sealife center. it's a nice job, taking care of every sea animal, feeding the sea lions and the puffins, taking notes on the development of salmon fry, cleaning enclosures, ect. it's good to see there are still understanding people out there, and their not all so close minded, like tai95, although I can see his opinion about me, however slowly, is changing. you know, I might just try to get a job in a lab, but i'd be much happier as an expeditional biologist, not cooped up in a lab. you know, like going out to places like the amazon and indonesia, and the bottom of the sea, looking for new species and the like.

Word. I'm not adventurous enough to do the ocean expedition stuff that some folks at my lab do. I used to do field stuff much more, like crashing through the rainforest in Australia, but I was 20 and single. Now that I've been in a domestic relationship for nearly 6 years, I've settled down a lot. Plus as I get older, I'm becoming a lot girlier. Like I dont' like sweating anymore ;)

Yeah, so I'll leave the adventuring to other people like you. I'd rather do the day-to-day stuff like working with students/the public and caring for critters. The little things bring me a lot more satisfaction, anyway.

Best of luck to you in all your endeavors! You're always welcome to PM me if you need anything, including support.

thanks, new2tanks! I try to be supportive. I figure I could have really used someone to do that for me when I was that age.

Kind of reminds you of The Green Mile when Ving Raines was takeing care of Mr Jangles. That big old guy would do anything for that mouse.
