Hey guys I am taking a different approach to stocking my rift lake tank. . .

Went to the LFS with my digital camera and found some fish that were interesting . The pictures didn't come out that great but well see what ya'll can do.
Hoping people can give me some suggestions about what they may be.

This one was actually black. I was surprised to see the color the flash brought out.

Well, my experience with africans is minimal but I know that #2 is a Labidochromis caeruleus i.e. Electric Yellow or Yellow Lab cichlid

1 - unsure
2 - yellow Lab
3 - Orange Blotched Zebra
4 - unsure
5 - juvenile Red Devil
6 - Yellow Lab
7 - Yellow Lab and Bumblebee

The yellow one is not a yellow lab. the yellow one in the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 7th looks like the same fish, but they are not yellow labs. It looks like a pseudo type...possibly a pseudotropheus saulosi(female) or pseudotropheus elongatus. Yellow labs have a wider body and face. As you can tell from the pics, yours is very long and slender. Also yellow labs do not show their stripes like the pseudotropheus do(like the one in your pic). Heres a pic of a yellow lab which you can compare to the one you took...

The last one is a maylandia crabro or "bumblebee cichlid". The third one is a OB Zebra. The first one is too hard to make out what it is.

And no, red devils are not rift lake fish.

Red Devils come from Central America and get 12-14" in length and can be very agressive.

That's what I thought. . . (that they were aggressive) Totally lame this place is fronting them as Africans. . . Actually it probably isn't the fish store it is the distributor.

Wonder how that would go over if I confronted them about it.

Regarding the yellow lab/psuedo's: They actaully had a yellow lab that I bought because it was the one fish that I could ID for sure. . . I didn't think 2,4,6 or 7 were labs but I wasn't sure if maybe they were variations. (I've only seen pictures of the males.) Thought maybe it was a female. . .
