i want to some neon tetras and here are the stores prices

Walmart 1.10
petco 1.50
petsmart 2.00

im askin this cause im thinking of getting some from walmart but Walmart sucks at keeping care of fish it might come with a disease and ruin my tank and petco is pretty cheap 1.50 but i can save money at walmart.

i had really good luck with the neons from Petsmart. Although it was some time back. only lost a couple out of 35.

big key to minimize neon loss is in type of net used--use the tightest possible mesh. I forget what they call the little white nets (they actually hold water for awhile.

second is a slow and easy acclimate.

thats why i always look for dead losses in a tank and how healty the fish looks. price is also a deciding factor as well as the warranty. i hear walmart has a pretty long one as does Petco. if some die, just bring them back in the bag with your tanks water and ask for replacements.

it's also a good thing to have a Q-tank (quarantine tank) to isolate any problems before adding them into the main one.

Well the best way to figure this out is to go to each store and look at the tanks. You will see which ones are taken care of and which ones are not. Look for obvious problems and you will find your answer. Each store does have different policies regarding returning fish if they die. Wal-Mart has a 90 day return period, PetSmart has a 2 wekk period and PetCo I believe is a 1 week period. I myself shop at both Wal-Mart and PetSmart in my area but they both do really good jobs on there tanks. I will never buy from the PetCo though as there tanks are usally pretty nasty. Another thing is PetSmart will pricematch Wal-Marts price. Just ask someone for a printout of the price and take it to PetSmart and they will honor the price. But this is only if you choose PetSmart. I hope this helps alittle.

I can but more at Wal-Mart becaue to buy 2 is something like $2.20 but they may be sick. At PetSmart I can only buy one for about $2.00. It is hard for me to decide but I do know that PetSmart takes better care of ther fish.

I agree with blk. IF you can only afford to buy 2 because that is all the money you have, i wouldn't buy any at all.

Fish O/jay, don't you think you should be spending your money on more rainbows?

BTW, you don't need to keep schooling fish in groups of 6 or more becuase we like to see them school - it's essential for ther'e mental health.

i know but rainbowes cost too much around were i live so im working on something else.

when i get some doe ill work on it im working on somthing else cause those fish are cheap

you know all my local petsmart, petco dont got rainbows so i got to this lil fish store that sells fish and rainbows cost me $6.50 each too much so im workin on other fish.
