I have the wet/dry filter on my sw tank with the bioballs. Im having a hard time getting the water level in the sump to where i want it. It keeps getting too low. How can you fix this?

Turn the return pump off. Fill the main tank until it just starts to overflow into the sump.

Fill the sump to the top. Turn the pump on.

If the water is still too low, then you need to lower baffles, or something similar.

Otherwise, just mark the water level when the pump is running, and add water often to keep it at that level.

what you mean fill the main tank untill it starts to overflow in the sump? Also what are baffles?oh also its not a slow rate it lowers quickly till its at the top of the return pump

Sounds like you're not getting enough water through the skimmer/prefilter.
Lots of options here...
I assume you have a hang-on prefilter box, and are feeding the prefilter box with a siphon tube? If so, you may need to:
1. Make sure the prefilter (usually a sponge sleeve) is clean/unclogged, OR
2. Simply add another siphon to increase flow to your sump, OR
3. Increase the plumbing diameter to the sump, OR
4. Change to a lower volume return pump, OR
5. Add a ball valve after the pump to slow the volume (check w/LFS and make sure your brand of pump can handle some back pressure).

Get the water in the main tank as high as possible. Stop adding water when it starts overflowing into the wet/dry.

Baffles are the dividers in your wet/dry. Nevermind them for now...

Turn your return pump off and fill both the main tank and the wet/dry with as much water as possible. Then turn the pump on. Let us know if it still does not work.

it seems there wasnt enough water getting in the pre-filter, so i lowered the box with the slots and seems to be staying full, thanks for the help!!
