Wet/Dry filters

It's for a 518 gallon fresh water tank

i'm thinkin monster fish so a couple rays, clown loaches, pleco, arowanas, clown knife, oscars,

it has 2 1 1/2 inch pvc pipes already drilled thru the bottom, and i am gunna silicone in 2 overflows, so i need a large enough sump (don't know what to use) and a good desciptive post of how to make one and what to make it outta(don't want to buy a huge tank cuz that would be to pricey and i want something cheaper then a store bought filter)

not sure how much turnover i am lookin for any suggestions would be good

so yeah, anyone have any ideas on what i would need to make it and how to go about doing it???

there is just too many ways to do it. IF you understand the basics of how they work the only limit is your imagination. There is a TON of examples at MFK

i dont really understand what you said earlier, is the tank drilled at the bottom?

yeah it used to have a pool filter so it has 2 pvc pipes going thru the bottom of the tank, i am gunna use one of them to run to a sump and just cap the other because one will be able to flow roughly 1200 GPH so i am lookin for a pump that can pump 1000GPH at 7 feet for my tank, and i think i am gunna build a sump out of a 80 gallon rubbermaid, and one of those rubbermaid drawer things, it has 4 drawers so what should i put in them???
