For freshwater I'm trying to understand the advantage of a 'wet dry' sump vs a 'plain' sump:
plain:
wet dry
-
It isn't clear to me what is gained - from my reading it sounds like they have lower current (which gives more time for biological reaction in the sump - but that also sounds like a negative as the flow is lower. Unfortunately my math isn't very good here so perhaps someone with more experience can explain. I do know i've read several descriptions of blackwater specialist where they talk about trickling the water through peat (that part makes sense) but not sure if this is related to wet dry systems.
