Whaat to put in a 55?

So I have this empty 55gal that I just aquired, and my plans to put a reptile in it have kinda failed soooo....
What should I put in it?
Here's what I kindof have to go by...
No special lighting requirements= no plants. Nothing that requires a rediculous amount of filtration/water movement (ex: discus and other picky water condition fish). Nothing saltwater. nothing that gets too big for the tank (don't want to have to upgrade in 6 months) It also has to enjoy warm water. It is going in my reptile room which has an average room temperature of 80+/- degrees. which is constant 24hrs.

Would prefer something scary/odd/different looking. Predators are cool.
anything else will have to depend on the fish.

Of course, other suggestions are welcome (ex: vivarium, reptiles/amphibians)
 
what do you mean 'rediculous filtration'?

discus don't do well in current so it isn't rediculous filtration.

I have seen them kept in tanks with sponge filters..
all fish need good warer conditions are you ready to maintain a tank properly?

A betta definetly. A lot of them love living in giant community tanks, thats much better than a tiny cup at the pet store!!!
So.. a male betta, 5 guppies, 3 platys, and a few angelfish :)

I meant fish that need extremely clean water/extremely succeptable to lowered water quality. I used discus as an example because of the every three day water changes. I want to keep it under weekly/biweekly water changes. (I already have a 110gal discus tank btw.)
I did also mean stuff that requires high current.
 
Go with 2 rams, like 10 black phantoms, 7 hachetfish, neons or cardinals like 6 or 7, 6 or 7 corys, and about 4 ottos. That would be a great tank....I'm going in the direction with my empty 55G. Or maybe some flag cichlids, there drawfs so they won't get that big and you really don't have to worry about aggestion to much. MAybe even some keyholes, very peaceful and have such big personality.

I don't believe flag cichlids (festivum) are dwarfs but they are considered a smaller cichlid.4-6" in aquariums.
both these and the keyholes are great suggestions


but you can house them in a 55.
 
After lookin around and doin some research I think I might do a Tanganyikan setup.
I guess it's over to the cichlid forums for me. :dive2:
