alaska is still doing it i think,..... there selfishness to the environment lol

Signed.
Native Alaskan people, the Inuit, are still allowed to hunt whale for their personal tribe use, non-commercial. The few they take have very little impact on the population, no more than natural causes would. Anyone else in the USA is forbidden to hunt them. I think the petition is more for the Asian countries where full-scale commercial whaling is still a HUGE industry. Where whaling boats go out in a fleet and slaughter whole herds in one outing.

Thanks everyone, keep those signatures coming.

The biggest whalers are the Japanese. They have something like (don't quote me on this) a 1000 scientific whaling quota. But tell me what kind of scientist sells their research for food, its simply unethical IMO. Also they don't kill the whales humanly but let them suffer extreme trauma before death, and the number they kill is actually increasing.

I think the Inuit have been whaling for thousands of years and now they only kill a very small number for traditional reasons. Whereas the Japanese have only really been whaling since World War II when there was a shortage of food.
