What about a tiger barb and an angel?

could an angel and a tiger barb be alright? I added them both when they're real young and the angel is a little bigger, think they'll be ok? I can't stand dealing with some of these fish stores, they seem to think everything is compatable.

if you have several tiger barbs they should be ok with the angel, but a solitary barb will be a nipper. In groups agression is kept in the school, I have had tiger barbs for several years, and IME the are not nippers when in groups.

So my reply is, No, unless you get more barbs. more than 3 is better, 6 is good.

even if they are in large schools, tiger barbs should never be kept with angels.

IMO never keep and angel and a tiger barb together. all the barb(in a group smaller than 6) will do is chase and horrasse the angel to death. id say pick either angels or barbs and go with that

I had a group of 12 tigers with 2 angels in my 46 gallon for 2 years. They grew up together and never had any problems. I wouldn't suggest it knowing what I know now, but I just got lucky.

Not every situation's the same. Normally it doesn't work with them, but I know of at least 5 friends who have never had issues. One who has had an angel centerpiece with TB's and Cherries for about 3 years. And they're in a 46 bowfront.
